Job Description:
We are looking to build our Board of Directors. “Requirements” include an interest/passion in sports, monthly meetings (generally one in-person) held remotely, attend and support the Awards Celebration, advance the mission of Sportswomen of Colorado (SWOC), etc.. Sportswomen of Colorado’s mission is “to promote, honor and empower girls and women in sports”. Annually, we host an Awards Celebration banquet, this year is our 48th Celebration (you can go to www.sportswomenofcolorado.org/register to sign-up for this year’s event – March 13th, Hyatt Regency Tech Center :-)) Within the celebration, along with athletes, we honor coaches, contributors and other special awards. Previously honored athletes include known names such as Missy Franklin and Mikaela Shiffrin. Missy was first honored at the age of 12 as “Most Promising”. Athletes who participate in sports such as Indoor Skydiving, Barrel Racing, Shooting and Ultimate Fighting have also been honored.
While a number of Board members are former high school and/or college athletes, sports participation is NOT a requirement. In addition, you are encouraged to go to our website (www.sportswomenofcolorado.org). Check out the “Honorees” section. You will find an area called “events” that has our virtual event from last year. You will see “honorees” and pages for 2020 and 2019 classes are already up. If you click on the athlete’s photo you will find the script read at the Awards Celebration. We are in the process of getting each year up (1974 on).
